If you’ve started your small business and decided to write articles in order to promote your online presence, then you are on the right track. Article writing is definitely an effective way to improve your website’s visibility and rank on the search engines. But there are precautions you need to take whenever you write an article because there are people who will read your article. This article will touch upon two of these precautions.

#1: Make Sure Not To Be Too Opinionated In The Articles

Every article is different but in general, articles are meant to be neutral pieces of writing meant to inform the reader. They are not usually meant to persuade the reader to take one side over the other. There are, of course, exceptions to this rule such as if your small business is a political business meant to take one side over the other. But in most cases, your business is the kind in which informative articles are better suited for. Do your best to keep your articles on a neutral wavelength and focus on delivering points of view which will be of great interest to your audience. A good way to do this is to sit down and brainstorm what you want to say in your article and whether anything that you might say is possibly opinionated.

#2: If You Must Be Opinionated In Your Articles, Make Sure That You Can Back Up Your View

There’s nothing worse than a point of view which the writer cannot support. Whenever you express a view or take a side, you need to present solid and concrete examples which will support your view. Showing support for your view will put the reader at ease and gives them more reason to read further and present you with questions about your point of view, should they have any.

Another important point is to give credit to the other point of view and explain why it is not the view that the readers should take. You must always make sure to address the opposing side, explain their point of view, and why it isn’t the right one to take. No one will ever take you seriously if you don’t address the opposing side or if you simply put them down without presenting any solid and concrete reasons as to why.
